Mike Hedges has proudly practiced Health and Life Insurance since 1989 from San Luis Obispo County but has clients in dozens of states. Along with several superb associates, he has built a business that insures thousands of lives utilizing over 25 different insurance carriers. His goal is to get the best value and save money for his clients. Michael is a Southern California native, graduating Bishop Amat High School and attended Saddleback College with an emphasis in Business.

A lifelong Dodger fan of course, he is so old he watched Don and Sandy pitch many times from just above the Dodger dugout at Lasorda’s “Blue Heaven”.

For recreation and exercise he rides his Montesa Trials motorcycle, bicycle and swims. Mike has two adult children and four grandchildren that are his pride and joy.

Mike has traveled to five continents for medical, humanitarian, Christian missions and locally been involved in homeless outreach for over 20 years. He considers himself amongst the most fortunate people that have ever lived.

Ben Owens and his wife Chrissy moved to the Central Coast in 2007. After completing his degree in Associate Arts, he spent over five years leading teams of people to various third-world countries for a non-profit organization. His teams would spend the week or more involved in numerous humanitarian projects to help the poor and those in need.

Mike Hedges traveled to Peru twice and Rwanda accompanying Ben and getting to know him. He invited Ben if he ever wanted, to join Hedges Insurance in an agent role and that the position is there for him when he was ready. That finally became a reality in 2011. Ben’s easy going attitude, great people skills, his humor and attention to detail made for a great team member.

Ben specializes in Medicare Supplements, Medicare Advantage, Part D Prescription Drug plans as well as a great deal of life insurance products.

This business allows Ben to do what he enjoys most; help people and it shows as his clients like and trust him. Finding the right coverage to fit the specific needs of the client, knowing complex Medicare rules, knowing how and when to enroll into Medicare from the Social Security Department while making it easy to understand is the goal of each and every relationship Ben has with a client.

Dan Cappel has been with Hedges Insurance Services since 2004, primarily specializing in Medicare. He is a long-time local and grew up going through the Atascadero school system. After high school he went off to Chico State to study Journalism and Philosophy, which oddly enough, was great training for teaching the ins and outs of Medicare. Dan has been involved in coaching his nephew in youth baseball for the last decade and had enjoyed teaching kids the love of baseball and competition. He is also an avid traveler who has been to many different continents as well as all over America. Dan has also been a longtime mountain bike enthusiast who has been riding the trails all over San Luis Obispo county for the many years.
